Lent 2015: Help us make IOCC Hygiene Kits!

The Service / Missions team of the CrossRoad Alumni Advisory Board is dedicated to identifying, sharing and leading service opportunities for the CrossRoad alumni.  This Lenten season, we are encouraging alumni to assemble IOCC Hygiene Kits! These kits will be distributed to countries in need – Together we can make an impact!

Please consider involving your church, GOYA / SOYO, YAL, OCF, Sunday School, or other Orthodox ministries at your parish. Contact us if you would like advice on how to hold a kit assembly event.

We will be assembling kits as part of the Alumni Retreats!  We would love any and all alumni involvement in contributing supplies for the retreat. We have set up an Amazon Wishlist to help ensure we have equal numbers of all items needed for the kits. You can purchase the items through Amazon and have them shipped directly to HCHC (please be sure to check shipping times to verify they will arrive in time for your retreat).  If you would like to purchase the items in another manner, just let us know what you plan on bringing by emailing CrossRoadAlumni@hchc.edu. If you can’t make it to the retreat, but would still like to contribute, you can make a purchase on the Amazon Wishlist.

The items necessary to make the kit are:

  • One hand towel
  • One washcloth
  • One comb
  • One metal nail file or nail clipper
  • One bar of soap (bath size, new and wrapped in original packaging)
  • One toothbrush (no toothpaste)
  • Six Band-Aids

Each kit should be placed in a single one-gallon plastic bag with a zipper closure.

Kits should be mailed to:

IOCC / Church World Service

Brethren Service Center Annex

601 Main St.

P.O. Box 188

New Windsor, Md. 21776-0188

Clearly mark the outside of the box with Hygiene Kit-IOCC and the number of kits that are enclosed. Include your name & CrossRoad Alumni on the box.

Together, we want to assemble more than 500 kits!! To help us keep track of how many have been made, please email us how many kits you have assembled. We also want to spread the word! Post pictures of your efforts / events on the CrossRoad Alumni Facebook page. We will be tracking on social media under #CRIOCCKits2015.

Thank you so much for your cooperation, patience, and involvement in this project! We are eager to see the CrossRoad Alumni stay connected by serving our neighbors around the world! Have a blessed and fruitful lent!
